Yukon’s Kenlea Jefferson Athlete Spotlight Presented by Roger Karns Shelter Insurance

There are a lot of reasons Yukon High School’s Kenlea Jefferson was excited to take the court this season. The sophomore has played competitive basketball for as long as she can remember. She started her basketball journey at the age of four.

“The one thing I love about being a student-athlete at Yukon High School is getting to play with my older sister, my teammates, and friends,” said Jefferson.

Every year, like her teammates, Jefferson works to improve her game to help the Lady Millers win. The Lady Millers put forth a solid effort in December and appear ready to take on the heart of the schedule next semester.

“I would say the most improved part of my game is my defense. Having missed the state tournament by one game last year, our goal is to make the state tournament this year,” said Jefferson.

As a student in the student-athlete equation, Jefferson takes her studies very serious. Even though she is a sophomore, Jefferson knows she would like to take her talents to the next level.

“I do not know what career I would like to pursue after I graduate, but I would like to play basketball at the next level,” said Jefferson.

In the classroom, Jefferson said she enjoys all of her classes and deciding which one is her favorite is too tough. But she does have a teacher who left a positive impression on her.

“Although I do not have a favorite subject, my favorite teacher was my 9th grade Spanish teacher Ms. Davis,” said Jefferson. Jefferson is a member of National Honor Society and said she enjoys hanging out with friends and grabbing some sleep when she has some free time.
