El Reno’s Grady Lesperance – FFA Spotlight – Presented by Oklahoma AgCredit

Grady Lesperance

El Reno High School

When Grady Lesperance first joined FFA, he was in the eighth grade. Now a graduate from El Reno High School, Lesperance said his time in FFA was memorable.

“I enjoyed spending time with friends at competitions, livestock shows and other events,” said Lesperance.

It was a teacher who encouraged him to join FFA. Once a member, Lesperance made the most of every opportunity FFA had to offer.
“My ag teacher Derek Pearson encouraged me to participate in the speaking competitions. I was on the swine show team, opening and closing ceremonies, milk quality and products, and also a member of the officer team,” said Lesperance.

Showing Berkshire, Hampshire, Yorkshire, and Crossbreds swine is a passion for the graduate and something he has done for several years. The attention he gives his animals shows his love for the animals in his care.

FFA was not the only activity Lesperance was involved in at El Reno. He was a member of the varsity baseball team and FCA.

“It was a blast! I had a great time with my teammates by not only winning but by making memories that will last a lifetime. I was the starting first baseman for the varsity team this year,” said Lesperance.

Now a freshman at Redlands Community College, Lesperance plans to major in Agricultural Education and give back to the organization that meant so much to him in his life,” said Lesperance.

The former ERHS student gave this advice to anyone interested in FFA.

“Take advantage of every opportunity you can and be as active as possible,” said Lesperance.
