Piedmont’s Rylie Burnett – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by BancFirst

Piedmont High School senior Rylie Burnett has been playing basketball since she was in the second grade. She had the desire to play a sport for fun and went for it, now years later she will be attending East Central University to play basketball.

Burnett also plays soccer and runs track for the Piedmont Lady Wildcats. No matter the sport, she has made great memories playing alongside her teammates.
“I think the best part about playing high school sports is being able to compete with your friends,” she said. “My favorite memory is winning a state championship in soccer, but for basketball my favorite memory was winning the conference championship.”

Burnett strives to exemplify good character in and out of competition because she knows how important it is.
“I am motivated to always try to be the best I can be to glorify God,” she said. “Character means being a good person on and off the court. It is important because that is how people are going to remember you.”

Burnett’s mother has played a huge role in shaping her life.
“I look up to my mom as a role model because she taught me to work hard and always believe in myself,” she said. “She always is there to support me and my siblings.”

Burnett looks forward to her senior seasons in all three of her sports, and then to continue her basketball career at the collegiate level.
