2024-2025 Mustang Broncos Cheer – Presented by Aaron Ruiz – Shelter Insurance

Caitlin Walker is now in her 10th year coaching at Mustang High School. Although the large size of the school may be a deterrent for some, Walker sees many benefits.

“We are able to offer so many electives that allow them to explore future career paths,” she said. “Also, many of our administrators, athletic directors, and teachers are from Mustang and have come back to work and raise their families here. There is truly a place for everyone, and it’s still a close-knit community.”

Her cheer squad is one to contend with, as they have placed in the top five in in both competitive state (as state runner-up) and game day state (fourth place).

“One word [to describe] the team this year is competitive,” said Walker. “They’re competitive within themselves, within their team, and in the state.”

Walker can attest to the mental toughness that cheer requires and that her team is up to the task.

“Our season never ends, and we are always preparing for our own competitions while supporting other sports at their games,” she said. “It’s a major time commitment, and the expectations are high. It takes a lot of resiliency to be successful.”

Walker is proud of the leaders on her squad this year and looks forward to those coming up in the ranks.

“Our team definitely looks to our eight seniors. They’re a dynamic group with a lot of wisdom to provide from their extensive cheer experience,” said Walker. “We have several underclassmen who will be fun to watch in the coming years. Julissa Lopez, Raylee Rowe, Madi Dolinar, Ady Lynch, just to name a few. Our junior class will be outstanding next year as seniors.”
