Piedmont’s Elizabeth Killian – Soccer Spotlight – Presented by Hey Day

Center back and outside back varsity soccer player, Elizabeth Killian, is a senior this season and a player who is expected to have a great season.

Head coach Natalie Thompson said Killian is known as a player who works hard to improve not only her game, but to help the team improve every time they step onto the field.

“Elizabeth is a great teammate and one of the hardest workers on the team. She will always give her best to her teammates on and off the field,” said coach Thompson.

Killian said the game has taught her several lessons she can use in everyday life.

“Soccer has taught me to embrace my mistakes, I learned no one is perfect and instead of fearing failure to see it as new opportunities and allow myself to learn and grow from them,” said Killian.

As a player, Killian said she has worked to improve her game in areas she felt needed some attention. That hard work is paying off.

“I would consider my strength to be my aggressiveness in the game. I love to make tackles and fight for any ball. I have a determination to win every ball I can. I have improved building stronger relationships and improving communication with my teammates,” said Killian.

The senior said her teammates make competing fun and all of the tough workouts worth it.

“I love that my teammates are diverse. We all have different lifestyles and experiences. So when we come to together and bond over soccer I find it fascinating. Everyone individual’s strengths and abilities make us a better team and I really appreciate that,” Killian said. “Madison Hendrix was a past teammate that graduated in 2023. She was always so positive and supportive. She gave me a different outlook on not only soccer but my life outside of soccer as well. I will always cherish her and the memories I made with her on and off the field.”
