2025 El Reno Indians Football Preview – Presented by Jim Eischen – Shelter Insurance

EL RENO INDIANS

Coach: RUSSELL COOK

4-6

OFFENSE

Coming into his fourth season as head coach, Russell Cook returns four starters on both sides of the ball including VYPE Top 100 selectee Rustyn Cook (6-0, 180, Sr.) who will start both ways for the Indians. The senior will start at quarterback giving the Indians a threat in the spread offense to run or pass. Antawan Grayson (6-3, 190, Jr.) and Grant First (6-0, 210, So.) are two running backs that give coach Cook a solid one-two punch in the backfield. Both guys have good speed and have the ability to catch balls out of the backfield. Tight end Kaleb Dennis (6-2, 215, So.) is a big target in the passing game and someone who can help the team move the ball downfield. A pair of wide receivers will look to stretch the field. Avery Mouse (5-8, 165, Sr.) and Kobe Little (5-9, 150, So.) bring speed and agility to the passing game and run excellent routes. Expect to see Cook hooking up with this tandem of playmakers this season.

DEFENSE

Cook brings his speed to the outside linebacker spot on the Indian defense. Cook returns as the team’s leading tackler and is a sideline-to-sideline guy. Cook brings a high football IQ to the defense. The secondary features Brad Palmer (5-11, 145, Sr.) who has the ability to lock down his side of the field but is physical enough to play a safety position. When you talk about the El Reno defense, you must talk about the defensive line. Jaron Youngbear (5-10, 215, Sr.) gets things started in the 4-2 scheme the Indians will employ. Omar Tristan (5-11, 220, Sr.) and Dezmond Riley (6-0, 290, Jr.) will help control the gaps and plug the middle of the line of scrimmage. Look for the defense to use some stunts and different packages to free up players and attack the opposing offense. There could be a few players playing both ways as coach Cook looks to field his best 11 on every down. The coaching staff consists of Mike Pruitt- Defensive Coordinator, Zac Speer – Special Teams Coordinator/RB/DB, Payton Haskins – OL/DL, Brad Baker – QB/OLB, Julian Cole – LB, Sidney Pratt – Freshman HC, Drew England – QB, Byron Cole- WR/DB, and Paul Raupe – OL.
