VYPE: Alexis, what position are you playing and what’s the hardest thing to master about that spot?
Alexis Kierstead: I am playing centerfield right now and the most difficult thing to do is find the fence and we work on it at practice all the time.
VYPE: What improvements have you made to your game coming into the season?
AK: The biggest improvement I’ve had this year has definitely been my mental game. It was tough during recruitment process, but God gave me the strength to trust him and to just learn that everything happens for a reason.
VYPE: What do you love most about this team and your teammates?
AK: I love our competitiveness, and the way we never give up. No matter the score and the team we play we always bring that competitiveness to the field.
VYPE: Which teammate is the most vocal and who keeps everyone laughing?
AK: I think the most vocal teammate is probably Wes Mcorvey even though she was hurt this season she never stopped being vocal she was always talking you up and being there for you. The teammate that has everyone laughing is definitely Reese Poage she is just a goofy girl.
VYPE: Who inspires you?
AK: My mom inspires me. She does in anything she can for me and always gives the best advice.
VYPE: What lessons in athletics will you use later in life?
AK: It has taught me to be mentally tougher and that you will not always succeed you will fail in life too.
VYPE: What is your favorite subject in school and who is your favorite teacher?
AK: My favorite subject is probably English because I love to write and my favorite teacher is Coach Palmer and he is a math teacher but he was awesome and made my least favorite subject be not so bad because I got to be in his class!
VYPE: Tell us your favorite memory or moment on the field.
AK: My favorite moment definitely winning fastpitch state title. We have won Slowpitch State Titles, but this one was different we finally did something we have been dreaming to do as a team it is so surreal and will always be my favorite memory.
VYPE: How do you enjoy spending your free time?
AK: I love shopping it is so fun to just look around at all the other cool items and clothes and it’s fun to get new stuff here and there. I love hanging with my friends and just being able to enjoy their company!
