Q&A Union City’s Morgan Brothers – Presented by BancFirst

VYPE: Morgan, when did you start playing softball?

Morgan Brothers: I started playing softball when I was kindergarten. In fourth grade I was playing in a tournament in Kansas and made my first diving catch and realized that I have potential to be good at softball.

VYPE: Is that your favorite memory or do you have others?
MB: My favorite memory is when I was playing in Florida for nationals and other teams were making fun of us for playing in shorts and we ended up winning the entire tournament.

VYPE: What position are you playing this year?

MB: My main position is pitcher for school ball. For me, the biggest challenge is the mental aspect of it.

VYPE: Which teammate keeps everyone laughing?

MB: Mariah Ailey always makes the most out-of-pocket jokes and makes people laugh. There is never a dull moment with that girl.

VYPE: What is your favorite subject in the classroom? Do you have a favorite teacher?
MB: My favorite subject in school is cosmetology because I enjoy helping people feel confident in themselves. My favorite teacher is Mrs. McReynolds because she is such a joy to be around.

VYPE: What makes Union City special to you?
MB: Being a small town, the community is extremely supportive and goes out of their way to take care of us athletes. The teachers are also helpful because they are very understanding when we need extensions for our schoolwork.

VYPE: When you’re not playing softball, what can we find you doing?
MB: I spend my time with my mom. If it wasn’t for all the sacrifices she has made for me, I wouldn’t be the woman I am today.

VYPE: What’s the best advice you have ever received?
MB: During my sophomore year I didn’t have many friends and I was struggling mentally. When I was doing my Bible study I came across a Bible verse, John 13:7, “You may not understand what I am doing now, but later you will.” My junior year I moved schools to Union City, and I met my best friend Juliana Pappe and I’ve built so many more relationships with the girls.
VYPE: What’s the plan for life after high school?
MB: My goal in life is to share the gospel with as many people as possible and point them toward salvation.
