Reese Poage is passionate about softball. Developing herself as a player and making friends for life is the best part of being on the Mustang High School softball team.
Reese is a junior at MHS who proudly represents her school and community as a student-athlete. This role gives her purpose and a special appreciation for her hometown. “The best part of representing Mustang is having the pride of where I grew up. My sport has taught me perseverance, it makes me remember why I do something in the first place,” she says.
The most memorable accomplishments happen when her team works together. Celebrating playoff game victories is the best feeling, especially when done with her best friends. Teammates like Maddie Ogle inspire and bring the team together. “She is the best teammate anyone could have,” says Reese, “she is constantly positive and always there for you.”
Sharing her faith is another aspect of softball that Reese embraces. The best advice anyone has given her is to trust God and worry about nothing. “I love to play, and it gives me a platform to spread the word of Jesus,” said Reese.
The athlete she looks up to is American hurdler and Olympic gold medalist Sydney McLaughlin. Reese admires her athletic ability and the fact that she is unafraid to share her faith.
Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Kelley from sophomore chemistry class. “She made us laugh and have fun,” says Reese.
Above all, Reese values her faith and her family. “Thank you, Jesus and Mom and Dad!” she exclaims.
Reese says she is inspired by how her parents built their success allowing them to provide everything she now has. Her dream vacation is to share the amazing experience of a European tour with her family.
Reese also plays basketball for Mustang and is in the National Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
