9 Qs with El Reno’s Jayda Cook – Presented by Jim Eischen – Shelter Insurance

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?

Jayda: I attribute much of my leadership style to the examples I had growing up. In retrospect, I realize that the coaches I had during my journey used softball as a tool to teach me skills that I would need throughout life. Skills like: leading by example, winning isn’t everything (it’s the only thing..jk), working hard leads to great results, the journey is just as important as the destination, we win and lose as a team, and so many more…

VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?

Jayda: Getting out on the field is what I look forward to everyday. Hitting the ball, fielding the ball and playing as a team with great girls is what I love most. I put everything, my heart and soul, into every game and every play. I love how it feels after winning a big game or making a great play.

VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.

Jayda: I would like to say thank you to my mom(Nikki Cook) for always being there for me when I have tough days. I would also like to thank my older sister(Mckayla Cook) for being the best big sister in the world. Also my little brother(Rustyn Cook) for always being my best friend.

VYPE: What has been your favorite memory of playing?

Jayda: My favorite memory has  to be from this year, when we beat noble this past week. It was a great feeling to be good enough to win 9-4.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

Jayda: My dad(Coach Russell Cook) inspires me because he has so much love for his family, friends, students, and athletes. He has so much passion for his family and his football team.  Even when he is super busy with football he is still there for his family.

VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?

Jayda: I am passionate about softball because I have played since I was a little girl. I have worked so hard to become the player that I am, and I have over came so many things.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

Jayda: Chenoa White was a senior last year when I was a junior. She has left an impact on me by the way she lead our team. She always uplifted me when I had a bad game, and she always had a short memory during tuff games. She made us all love the game again!

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?

Jayda: I would go to Taos New Mexico! I love going skiing with my little brother. I would take my family because we always have a fun  time on vacation especially in the snow!

VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?

Jayda: My favorite way to represent my high school(el Reno) is proving people wrong who don’t believe in el Reno.
