Athlete Spotlight with El Reno’s Ethan Brooks – Presented by Jim Eischen-Shelter Insurance

In his first season of varsity competition, El Reno High School’s Ethan Brooks is stepping up and helping the El Reno track team this season. Brooks started competing in track events when he was in the sixth grade, now a freshman, Brooks is excited to be part of the team and contributing to the overall success of the program.

“I compete in the 800, 1600, 3200-meters, and the 4×400 relay,” Brooks said. “I feel my strength is I’m a very strategic runner and I have a great final kick at the end of a race.”

Brooks said the school and his teammates are very supportive and it’s something he appreciates.

“My teammates all super supportive and friendly,” Brooks said. “Almost all my teachers are very gracious on work if I have a meet.”

The freshman said his family is a source of inspiration before and while he is competing.

“My whole family has been a big inspiration. After I started running all my parents have either started going to the gym and even started running themselves. Now that I’ve got competition in my own house, I must keep training,” said Brooks.

When he has some down time, Brooks said he likes to spend it hanging out with his friends.

“I like to play video games with my buddies, as of now we play brawl stars a lot. I also like watching shows and I’m getting into comics lately,” Brooks said. “I’m going to do a lot of traveling with family this summer. I’ll be going to California and New York City. I’m also looking forward to just getting to hang out with my friends a lot.”

After high school comes to an end, Brooks said he would like to attend college, but is unsure what he would like to study.
