MUSTANG BRONCOS
Coach: LEE BLANKENSHIP
5-6
OFFENSE
Just making a playoff appearance in not enough for the coaching staff and players at MHS. They want more and this season they are going after it with a renewed sense of urgency. Head coach Lee Blankenship said this team is eager to get on the field and compete. “We are extremely excited about the 2025 season. We have a ton of guys that had to play young last season and we believe that they are battle tested and hungry. I am proud of how hard our kids have been working and the great team culture and chemistry that they have cultivated in the locker room.” Wide receivers Jaden Johnson (6-1, 175, Sr.) and Jaytee Johnson (6-1, 175, Sr.) are poised for big years in the high-octane offense the Broncos will employ this season. Both guys bring excellent speed to the offense. Lane Lewis (6-2, 225, Jr.) is another big target who can help in the run game as well with his blocking. The offensive line is salty with Hayden Flores (6-1, 290, Jr.), Stone Perkins (6-0, 285, Jr.) and Caden Gordon (6-1, 250, Jr.). One player who loves seeing these guys up front is OU commit Jaden O’Neal (6-3, 220, Sr.). A four-star player, O’Neal has shown he is one of the top players in the state. Also look for Ryder Murphy (6-2, 185, Sr.) at WR. A transfer from Norman, Murphy led Class 6A in receiving last year. Running back Gerald Ackah (5-9, 215, Sr.) is a strong RB who could take the majority of the carries this season. Cooper Clark (6-7, 260, So.) has Power 5 potential according to coach Blankenship.
DEFENSE
Look for the Broncos to start in a 4-3, but can adjust quickly to every situation with players like Josiah Stevens (6-2, 215, Sr.) and Kaden Bachus (5-10, 195, Jr.) at linebacker. The pair is joined by Parker Sorrell (6-0, 220) giving the Broncos a tough group of LBs who can fly around the field making plays. Tayten Duncan (6-1, 190, Sr.) can hit like a linebacker but will play safety and is a three-year starter with an offer from Army. Tucker Brown (6-0, 175, Jr.) will lock up one of the corner spots after a solid season and excellent preseason. With offers from multiple D1 schools, Gabriel Osbourne (6-2, 170, Jr.) may be the player to watch on defense. The lockdown corner transferred from Putnam City and is already making a difference for the defense. Opposing QBs will need to pick their poison with this secondary. New defensive coordinator Justin Deason has a D2 National Championship as a DC to his credit from Texas A&M Commerce and spent five seasons at FCS Incarnate Word where he won two conference championships. Also look for Max Baca at defensive end and Elijah Wilson on the line. Both are difference makers for the Broncos.
