Mustang High School returns in 2026 after an 8-4 season under head coach Lee Blankenship, who is entering his ninth year leading the Broncos. Blankenship says, “We are extremely excited about the 2026 season,” noting that “a ton of guys…had to play young last season” and are now “battle tested and hungry.” He adds that he is “proud of how hard our kids have been working and the great team culture and chemistry that they have cultivated in the locker room,” setting high internal expectations.
Offensively, Mustang brings back seven starters and will run a multiple spread power offense out of a no-huddle system, using tempo and physicality to stress defenses. Senior running back/slot Jayden Reyes returns after totaling 428 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 49 carries, plus 11 catches for 140 yards and a score. Senior wide receiver Gabe Osborne Jr., the team’s Top 100 nominee, posted 22 receptions for 591 yards and nine touchdowns and added 12 carries for 130 yards, giving Mustang a true big-play threat. Up front, senior lineman Stone Perkins, junior tackle Cooper Clark and junior tight end/defensive end Breck Brady anchor a physical line, while senior quarterback Kason Delgado directs the attack.
Defensively, the Broncos return four starters and will operate out of a multiple system based from a three-high shell. Osborne doubles as a standout corner with 65 tackles, three tackles for loss, two interceptions, nine pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and a defensive touchdown. Senior defensive backs Keywan Kearney and Braesyn Williams, junior safety Aboss Deason, and linemen Maddox Gregg and Tucker Harris round out a unit that blends experience on the back end with size in the front. Blankenship calls Osborne “a top player in the country,” noting he is “ranked on the ESPN 300” and “has offers from every SEC & Big 10 school,” praising his “unbelievable speed and athleticism” and “some of the best ball skills we’ve seen.” Brady, one of the top tight ends in the country with 25 Division I offers, will be a two-way player at tight end and defensive end with a “huge frame at 6-foot-7” and strong ball skills, while Perkins is described as “the definition of character both on and off the football field.” With star power, line strength and a seasoned staff, Mustang expects to contend again in 2026.
