Mustang’s Amelia Mason – Presented by Aaron Ruiz Shelter Insurance

Amelia Mason plays softball for Mustang High School. She works hard to be ready when it is time to hit the field. Along with the work, it also takes pushing through when you do not feel like working.
“The thing that keeps me successful in my sport is my mindset on and off the field,” she said. “Not letting the little things affect me and trusting the process. What motivates me is the drive, the excitement, and the confidence I gain from softball and most importantly the competition it brings.”

On the field, Mason is a pitcher for the Broncos. As a member of the team, she is proud to wear her school colors and play for her school and she is thankful for who it has helped her become.

“It’s a great privilege to play and represent Mustang,” she said. “The Mustang softball program is full of great talented athletes and an amazing coaching staff. I really appreciate the leadership and motivation that coach Lacy Darity has given me throughout my four years of softball. Without the Mustang softball program, I wouldn’t be the player I am today.”

She has made a lot of memories with her teammates, both on and off the field. But Amelia says that there is one accomplishment that stands out as her favorite.
“The highlight moment of my career so far is winning the slow pitch state championship  my sophomore and junior years,” she stated.
Throughout her life, Mason has had people that have had a big impact on her life and helped shape her into the person that she is today.

“My mom and my dad are my biggest influencers,” she said. “My dad for never letting me give up and pushing me, and my mom for pushing me to stay close to Christ during hard times. The teachers that had the biggest impact on my life are Michael Lynn and Katie Huff because they taught me everything I know about softball and taught me how to be a great person outside the sport.”
