Tennis involves playing your best as an individual, and on the high school level, having your team succeed. Mustang High School senior Grace Shriver plays tennis as a varsity doubles player and has a passion for the sport.
Throughout her years of playing tennis, Grace has unequivocally appreciated her teammates. When asked whom Grace looks toward for a role model, she looks to two sources.
Grace stated, “I look to both my teammates and my family. They both motivate me to compete.”
In regard to what has allowed Grace to be successful during her high school tennis career thus far, Grace did not hesitate to answer.
“Without question, hard work and motivation have helped me be successful in tennis.”
Many memories are made during high school sports. But for Grace, one particular memory stands out the most.
“So far, the biggest highlight of my high school career has been making Yukon regionals during my junior year with Syana. But I hope to do even better this year being my last playing for Mustang.”
Every team and player has a competitor they enjoy beating.
“Of all our opponents, I enjoy beating Yukon the most,” she said. “It is always fun to compete against Yukon because it is always such a heated rivalry between our teams.”
In terms of a teammate that Grace enjoys playing with, Grace stated, “I love practicing with Ella; she is always competitive and is a very smart player.”
Besides practicing and playing on the tennis court, Grace is involved with the Bronco Athletic Counsel. At the end of the day, she loves showing her Bronco pride.
“Representing Mustang gives my team a chance to show the hard work we put into practice and how much our coaches care,” she said.
