Piedmont’s Addison Brown at Full Strength – Presented by F&M Bank Oklahoma

Piedmont junior Addison Brown has always called the midfield home, but it was the journey back to that familiar spot that reshaped her perspective on the game and herself.

After suffering an ACL injury as a sophomore, Brown leaned on her inner strength and refused to let the setback define her. “Although there were some days I struggled, I never gave up or lost sight of myself,” she said. “I’m so proud of my resilience, and so grateful to be back.”

Brown credits soccer with teaching her lessons that extend far beyond the touchlines. She describes the sport as a family built on trust, sacrifice and loyalty; values she says have shaped who she is. “Some of the first things you learn are the sacrifices you have to make both on and off the field for your teammates,” Brown said. “I’ve learned priceless lessons of faith, sacrifice, loyalty and what it means to be a team, and I owe it all to soccer.”

In the classroom, Brown still remembers fourth-grade teacher Mrs. Sprague, who helped preserve one of her oldest friendships by refusing to let “shallow yet aggressive” note passing drive the pair apart. At home, her biggest inspiration is her younger brother, Rhett. “Being his older sister, he keeps me inspired to be my best self, because he deserves the best I can give,” Brown said. “It’s my goal to be the greatest role model I can.”

Brown’s favorite part of being a Piedmont athlete is the responsibility of representing her school and feeling the support of classmates in the stands. She tries to live by the advice of remaining authentically herself, on and off the field. She also finds inspiration in Olympian Alysa Liu, admiring how the figure skater blends athleticism and artistry while staying true to herself. For Brown, it all comes back to gratitude for her parents, her friends, her teammates and the brother she calls her biggest supporter.
