When sophomore Anabel Gleichmann of Piedmont High School steps onto the field for the varsity softball team, she is focused and ready to help her team win. Gleichmann started playing softball four years ago and plays right field or left field for the Wildcats. The sophomore said she loves being part of a great team with great teammates.
“I enjoy the environment that we have at Piedmont softball. Everyone is always having fun.
This season Gleichmann and her teammates are looking to grow as a team and continue working towards a successful season. Under coach Keith Coleman, the team is 13-6 with several games left on the schedule.
“My expectations are to have a amazing season and grow friendships,” said Gleichmann.
Her inspiration comes from a family member who encourages her on and off the field.
“My grandpa inspires me because he is hardworking and always wanted to be better,” said Gleichmann.
In the classroom, Gleichmann said she has her favorite and once her time at PHS comes to an end, her future plans include pursuing a degree in college.
“My favorite subject is Spanish, and my favorite teacher is Mrs. Hume,” Gleichmann said. “I want to go to college and become a physical therapist.”
Away from the field and school, Gleichmann said she enjoys working out and doing crafts.
The remaining schedule for the Wildcats includes home games against Yukon, Edmond Santa Fe, Jenks, Putnam City, Southmoore, Owasso, Guthrie and Carl Albert.
