Piedmont High School’s Kinley Sexton is a senior and a member of the FFA chapter at school. It was a family member who encouraged Sexton to join FFA.

“I first joined FFA my junior year, which was Piedmont’s first year having the program back after 30 years,” said Sexton. “My dad was an FFA member and seeing friends of mine from other schools in FFA before Piedmont got their ag program pushed me in joining FFA.”

As a member, Sexton has enjoyed the activities and the opportunity to show livestock as a senior.

“What I enjoy the most about being in FFA is getting to learn more about agriculture and leadership while being with my best friends,” said Sexton. “I participate in livestock judging, I was the 2022-2023 Piedmont FFA reporter, and I recently attended Washington leadership Conference in Washington DC representing Piedmont and Oklahoma FFA. Recently I’ve started showing pigs. This will be my first year showing for my final year of FFA.”

Also a member of the softball team at Piedmont HS, Sexton said she loves her team and teammates.

“What I love the most about being in Piedmonts softball program is the endless support I’ve had from not only my teammates, but my coaches too. What I love the most about my team is how we will always fight to the very end and always have each other’s backs on and off the field,” said Sexton.

Sexton said anyone curious about FFA should give it a try.

“My advice to anyone considering joining FFA is to not be scared to come out of your comfort zone and don’t be scared to try something new. you will make memories that will last a lifetime.”

Sexton plans to attend college after high school and said her parents are responsible for helping her achieve her goals.

“I plan to attend Oklahoma State majoring in agribusiness or animal science. My biggest influence in my life has been my parents. My parents have supported me through everything, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
