Q&A with Piedmont’s Riley Harris- Presented by F&M Bank

VYPE: What is the best part of the position you play in soccer?

Riley Harris: I am a defender. My favorite part is when I defend well and get the ball back and then we end up scoring off of it.

VYPE: What have you learned playing soccer that you can use in daily life?

RH: Working hard pays off.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?

RH: My teammates are my best friends. We go through it all together and it really builds a bond between us.

VYPE: What makes you passionate about soccer?

RH: I have always loved soccer. It comes with so many memories that I will cherish forever.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

RH: My parents are one of my biggest inspirations. They both work hard in their own ways and encourage me through every decision I make. They have been there through everything and are always my biggest cheerleaders at my games.

VYPE: How did you start playing soccer?

RH: Growing up my twin sister Addison and I played every sport, soccer being one of them. We played Pre-K-2nd grade, sixth grade, and then I continued to play it in middle school to now, my senior year in high school.

VYPE: What is your favorite memory of soccer?

RH: When we won the 5A State Championship my sophomore year! After the game, we went to eat as a team, and we were welcomed back by our families and fans.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

RH: Doing your best is all you can do.

VYPE: What is something special you would like to share about yourself?

RH: I have always prayed for my teammates who played club soccer. When I made varsity, I was the only one who did not play club soccer outside of school. Last summer it all changed. Some of my soccer friends came to church camp with me! We now have a whole row filled with the soccer team at youth group on Wednesday nights. It has been such a blessing to be a part of the Piedmont Women’s Soccer Team and watch God work in us.
