Practice and preparation are important things in order to be a successful athlete. If you are unwilling to invest the time, it will be difficult to reap the benefits. Braydon Armstrong says that the work is what has helped him get to where he is.
“It is not easy to be successful,” he said. “You have to be willing to sacrifice and get up even when you don’t feel like it to put in the work. For me, motivation is a big thing. I keep myself motivated by being the best I can and not only proving people wrong, but trying to prove the people close to me right.”
Armstrong is a senior at Union City, where he plays baseball and basketball for the Tigers.
As a baseball player, Braydon has a professional player that he looks up to for different reasons.
“Bryce Harper is my favorite professional baseball player,” he said. “Obviously I enjoy him as a baseball fan and just watching him play. But also just seeing the things he wears and the crazy colorful cleats he has.”
There have been a few people in Braydon’s life that have been influential for him.
“The biggest role models in my life are God, my family, and my teammates,” Armstrong said. “They have been there for me and helped me to become who I am today. Kolton Brown and Macy Brown are two of the teachers that have impacted my life. They are always there for me and they always give me the best advice.”
Ludy Griggs is the head coach of the Union City baseball team. He says that Armstrong is an stand out baseball player and member of the team.
“Braydon is a Northern Oklahoma College-Enid signee and has a left-handed power punch at the plate,” Griggs said. “He has a great baseball IQ also. He is an outstanding catcher but can close games out on the mound as well.”
Braydon has enjoyed a number of memorable moments but his favorite took place in the postseason.
“The highlight moment of my career would have to be my homerun against Ripley to tie a playoff game in the sixth inning.”
