It’s easy to see why Yukon High School’s Kooper Lippe is one of the players to watch on the varsity tennis team. Lippe can play both singles or doubles and started playing the game when he was in the seventh grade. Now a sophomore, coach Ankrom said Lippe always shows up with a positive attitude.
“He is the type of kid that always has a positive attitude and is always encouraging to all of his teammates. His attitude in and out of practice definitely is the glue to our team,” said coach Ankrom.
Lippe said he enjoys being around his teammates and representing YHS in competition.
“My teammates are so much fun. We are upbeat and laugh a lot at each other. It’s like family,” Lippe said. “Student-athletes are treated as leaders and adults. We are listened to and treated with respect and responsibility. They value are opinions.”
From practice to tournaments, Lippe has a good time working to improve his game and helping his teammates improve.
“I just love being in practice and tournaments. We always have fun together,” said Lippe.
The sophomore said Ms. Hoke is his favorite teacher, and despite not being involved with any clubs at school, Lippe does spend time with a local youth group.
“I’m not in any other clubs. I’m highly involved in CCY. My local youth church group. We help the church and community,” said Lippe.
While he is still contemplating what he wants to do after high school, Lippe said his little brother Oscar is a source of inspiration and he enjoys spending time with family when he’s not competing.
“I really enjoy hanging out with friends and family. Family get togethers, time with friends, game nights, and church events are most my free time,” said Lippe.
