
VYPE: What grade are you in, what position do you play and when did you start playing basketball?
Raelyn Williams: I am in the 9th grade. I play power forward but can go outside as well. I started playing basketball around 5 or 6 years old.
VYPE: What has basketball taught you?
RW: To never give up even when things don’t go your way!
VYPE: What is the strength of your game and what have you improved on for this season? RW: My strength would be finishing, and my outside shot and defense has improved this season.
VYPE: What makes YHS a great place for you as a student-athlete?
RW: It creates great friendships that I pray will last forever.
VYPE: who were you impressed with this season or have a former teammate who left an impression on you?
RW: Yes, my current teammate Rylee Larue, she has taught me to be a leader and step up when times get hard.
VYPE: Which teammate keeps everyone laughing, who is the most serious?
RW: AP keeps everyone laughing and Kalli is the most serious for sure
VYPE: How do you mentally prepare yourself for competition?
RW: Listen to music and don’t talk.
VYPE: What do you love most about your teammates and are you playing any other sports? RW: I love that we can have fun together but also know when it’s time to get serious. Yes, I also throw shot and discus!
VYPE: What’s the goal for life after high school? RW: Go to college to study sonography and become a traveling sonographer.
