2025 Yukon Wrestling – Presented by Southern Nazarene University

As the heat is being turned on in gyms and wrestling rooms across Oklahoma, Yukon High School is eager to get back on the mat and compete for state tournament spots again this season.

Head coach Joe Schneider said the team returns several key wrestlers from last season.

“Yukon Wrestling Program is returning five state qualifiers and two of them placed last year at the Class 6A State Tournament,” coach Schneider said.

Destry Lujan (Sr.) returns as a two-time state qualifier after placing 2nd last season in the state tournament at 215-pounds. His weight for this season is undetermined, but regardless of where he lands, Lujan is certainly a name to watch for this season.

Three-time state qualifier JJ Schultheis (Sr.) placed 3rd last season at 138-pounds and recently signed with Friends University in Kansas. Schultheis has the ability to etch his name into the record books as one of the top wrestlers in school history alongside Lujan.

The list doesn’t stop there.

Deshawn Tate (Sr.) was a state qualifier last year at 165-pounds, as was Jaxon Kennedy (Sr.) at 126-pounds, and Da’Mari Alexander (Jr.) at 113-pounds. This group will be tough to face this season.

Home duals consist of Piedmont, Mustang, Deer Creek, Choctaw and Tuttle on Feb. 3rd.

“This year Yukon will be hosting the Jay Hancock Memorial tournament for the 50th year in a row. (January 23rd and 24th) This event has close to 32 teams from across the state who are always competitive in their respective classes. Some teams include Edmond North, Stillwater, Choctaw, Westmoore, Moore, Owasso, and Sapulpa,” coach Schneider said.
